Q. My computer shutdown prematurely, is there a backup file?
A. Yes there is. Should this happen, immediately open windows explorer, and then browse to the location of your file. There you will see both the original file and a duplicate with the extension ".BAK". Right click on the file and choose rename. Give this file a new name and change the extension to ".EXP". Once this is done, you should be able to open this new file from Express. If this failed there is also a Temp file that may have been created. This file is created after the file has been open and a data entry screen is open for 5 minutes and no values are entered. This file can be found in the C drive Program file/Express/Plan folder. Its name is Temp. Open the file to assess if it has your lost data, if so rename it and proceed with your work.
Q. I get a warning that I have a math overflow, or I have created an AGI greater than $1.2 billion, what does this mean?
A. This is the result of an entry that is creating a high rate of return. If you ignore this entry you will get a Run Time Error 6 when you proceed to reports. You must return to the set that originated this error and either delete it or check the rate of return. If you can not remember which set, you will need to go to each asset you have entered and check the rate of return. If you cannot find it, email it to support @execplanexpress.com. Please include your name, your password you received when you purchased the software and your phone number where you can be reached.
Q. We just did some changes to our server and Express will now not open?
A. If you change the location where your files are saved and deleted the location where you told express they would be, the software may Hang Up when you open. To solve this, you need to go to Windows Explorer then go to c drive then the program files/execplan express folder and find the file 99998xc3.fmt and delete it.
Q. My Express will not open and no changes were made to the server.
A. To solve this, you need to go to Windows Explorer then go to c drive then the program files/execplan express folder and find the file 99998xc7.ini and 9998xc9.fmt and delete both files.
Q. I open a file and the data is missing.
A. The file has been corrupted, you will need to see if you can recover the backup file, see "My computer has shutdown prematurely, is there a backup file?"
Q. I open a File and a get a run time error
A. The file may have been corrupted, you will need to see if you can recover the backup file, see "My computer has shutdown prematurely, is there a backup file?"
Q. When I go to reports I get a Run Time 6 or my plan shows just one year
A. You have an entry that is illogical or creating a value to large or you have multiple copies of Express running. First save the file and close Express, then make sure you have no other copies running. Then reopen Express and reopen the file and proceed to reports. If you stop getting the error and you see all the years, then you should be able to proceed. If the problem still is occurring, it is likely that you have an illogical error, such as an unusually large growth rate for an expense or income, or you used a mathematical symbol that is creating division by 0. Check all values, if you cannot find it, email it to support @execplanexpress.com. Please include your name, your password you received when you purchased the software and your phone number where you can be reached.
Q. I am getting an extra page between my reports or it overflows to another page without creating a new heading
A. This may occur if you have changed settings for fonts, margins or page layout. Restore to defaults, see the "How do I change my Fonts" question. If this is not the case, it may be because your printer cannot handle the number of lines per page. In this case, go to Options then Report Options, then Page Setup and reduce the number of lines per pages by 2.
Q. I get a bunch of extra blank pages at the end of my report
A. This may occur if you have changed settings for fonts, margins or page layout. Restore to defaults, see previous question. If this is not the case, it may be because your printer cannot handle the margin widths that were set in the program. In this case, go to File then choose Print Setup, then go to page two and change your left margin from .9 inches to .7 inches
Q. My graphs do not appear in my word document
A. While viewing the report in word choose file then print preview. If the graph appears here, check your Word Tools Option tab and make sure the View Drawings box is checked.
Q. My graphs appear odd sized or shaped in my report
A. The graphs will copy exactly as you see them on you screen. You can change the level of detail in the graph by changing you screen’s resolution.
Q. When I save my schedules (income statements, balance sheets etc.) as Excel files, they do not appear like that do in Express.
A. Go to Options the Report Options then Page setup then choose No for the tab that says Store reports with control codes.
Q. How come I get an error "Path not fount" when I run my text reports?
A. If you had previously run the text report and it is still open, save your work and close the document. Then rerun the text report. If you did not run the report yet and are having this problem go to Options System Options then Word Processor, make sure you have chosen the right word processor.
Q. I'm using Vista and I can't locate my plans.
A. Vista is using the virtual folders and save the users data in their appropriate virtual folder location.
C:\Users\UserName.DomainName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\ExecPlanExpress. For 64 bit operating system look under:
C:\Users\UserName.DomianName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files(x86)\ExecPlanExpress
Q. I'm clicking the F1 or '?' symbol and a window comes up with error message.
A. Microsoft omitted the MS WinHlp32.exe from their Vista\Windows 7 operating systems, You can still download the utility from Microsoft site by
clicking here.
